Cruachan -The Great Hunger (traducida al castellano)
Cuarta canción del disco The Morrigan's Call (2006) de la banda irlandesa de Celtic/Black Metal Cruachan. Este álbum se caracteriza por un regreso de la banda a los sonidos crudos y oscuros típicos del Doom y el Black Metal, aunque con una presencia esencia de elementos folk. El título del disco hace referencia a la muerte, como podemos también apreciar en los elementos de la portada, y tal como ocurre en esta canción ocupa un lugar central. "The Great Hunger" o La Gran Hambruna fue un acontecimiento histórico sucedido en la Irlanda de mediados del siglo XIX, donde una suma de varios factores tales como la aparición de un hongo en la patata (alimento básico en el momento) así como una mala gestión por parte del Reino Unido hicieron que la población de Irlanda disminuyera en mas de 2 millones de personas (1/4 de la población) de los cuales medio millón murieron producto del hambre y las enfermedades. Esta canción homenaje de Cruachan continua con una tendencia social de la banda, tal como se puede ver en otras canciones del mismo álbum como "Coffin Ships".
