Performed by: 龍5150 From the album: Akiba festival compilation CD Vol.2 Seihou (西方) is a series of games related to the Touhou series but not created by ZUN directly; rather, the Seihou series is produced by former members of Amusement Makers who later formed Syunsatsu Sare Do. Seihou means "western" as opposed to Touhou, which means "eastern." The music of this game, along with some of the art, was done by ZUN. Several Touhou characters have made appearances in the Seihou games, such as Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame in Shuusou Gyoku, as well as Yuuka in Kioh Gyoku. Additionally, in the game Samidare, a certain area in the Extra stage is dedicated to Touhou, as the midboss battle is a reference to the Stage 4 boss battle in Mystic Square, as they act like Yuki and Mai (as well, you can faintly see Yuki and Mai in the boss sprites; they are little more than spheres of light, but when they stop moving, the pair of magicians become briefly visible). Dixon Nacey Jazz Guitar Melodic Minor Series (5).MOV
5th in the series on Melodic Minor. This one focuses on the V7-I major progression, using the altered scale on the V7 chord or G7(alt) in the key of C, then a Cma7(#5) is used on the resolve chord (usually Cma7 / C lydian etc). This means the two scales used are a semitone apart (Ab melodic minor and A melodic minor) and so a side stepping motion occurs between the two super imposed chords. Secondly, this vid deals with the use of the pentatonic scale application (Bbmin pent over G7[alt] and a Dmin pent over the Cmi[ma7]). Lastly - the triad pairs (major and minor triads one tone apart). The two major triads are built off the 4th and 5th steps of any melodic minor scale, this example uses the F and G maj triads of the C Melodic minor scale super imposed over a B7(alt). The progression is B7 to Emin. Apologies also - I'm a bit grumpy here as when I shot this, I'd spent about 3 months replacing camera, computer, SD card, losing videos I'd backed up (had already shot this whole series twice!). Hence the long gap between uploads.... And then my browser crashed mid upload... You know, one of THOSE days....

The first sweep is the d chord in the d harmonic minor scale. It's 1, b3, 5, 1 and has a b6. The second is in d minor, it is tapping embellishments of the g minor chord, root on the 5th string. The last one is Bb maj. 7. Which means 1,3,5,7,8 **UPDATE** 3/16/08 Yes, the first one has delay. Not to be fishy, but because I thought it sounded pretty. The following two do not feature delay. I use my pinky when I need it. I need it on the second exercise, so I use it. Also stop thinking my theory is wrong and yours is better. I have years of background in theory, much more than in practice, and if anything in my video is 100% accurate, it's the theory. I did not write in embellishments, as they are not crucial to arpeggio construction. For more information, read a book.
