Beginning in 1946 and spanning almost 30 years, Savage Grace tells the incredible story of Barbara Daly, an aspiring socialite who marries above her class to Brooks Baekeland, heir to the Bakelite plastics fortune. Theirs is an unsteady match, and friction between the couple is compounded by the birth of their son, Tony, who develops an unnaturally close relationship with his mother.

Detroit's "Savage Grace", not to be confused with LA's SG. One of 3 bands with the same name. Look who introduces this video. The CD was Produced by Michael Wagener, check out his discography at www.michaelwagener.com . The video was shot at Harpo's and simulcast on local cable and rock station WLLZ. Michael Wagener produced Dokken, Great White, White Lion, Metallica, Ozzy, Alice Cooper, Accept, Skid Row amongst others. This version of Savage Grace formed in 1981 and was recording under that name then. There was another Savage Grace from Detroit in the 70's that had some success. This version of Savage Grace was probably the only group that Michael Wagener produced through the 80's that didn't get signed.

Sorry I don't have more pix.. this is the late great thundergod of guitar at his best - live at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit with Savage Grace in 68. The picture was taken by Andrew Pearch, not at the Grande, but still around that time and still in Detroit. The tune is "Turn your head" written by Koss and the band and sung by Koss and Al Jacquez. The sound was almost certainly recorded and mixed (as much as was possible in 68) by Jeff Jones. If you like this tune, tell your friends. there are cd's available at www.amazingmusic.com

Savage Grace - Artie Fields Tapes - Lady Ivy, Come on down.
OK - for those who don't know - these tapes were recorded at the Artie Fields Studios in Detroit in the fall of '69. The sessions produced by the band, with input from "Mighty Jeff" Jones and "Allround GoodGuy" Jerry Lubin, are the tapes that were the band's first radio presence in Detroit and went a long way to solidifying their status as one of the top bands in the area. They are, almost certainly the tapes that got them their record deal with WB and prompted the move to LA to record what was to be their first album. Many people, myself included, believe them to have forgotten to take something with them.. some indefinable "spirit" that lived in these tapes but was mysteriously missing from the eventual release. It was tempting to blame the producer... but the band had a hand in it as well. The LA studios were much flashier and had more up-to-date gadgetry than Detroit's more downhome rooms... and there were also the dreaded "personal" issues as well...brought on by dragging four families across the country and living in motel rooms while trying to record an album - with a different producer. One of these days, if Jeff and All ever get motivated, they'll doubtless make these tapes available to the general public in a more fulfilling package than this humble effort.. but, 'til then.. I can't wait no more. Here's three songs, "Lady Rain", "Ivy" and "Come on Down"... go to www.amazingmusic.com and demand better versions.. tell 'em you'll pay good money... meanwhile ...
