Against Nature - Confusion
Band: Against Nature Album: Pluperfect 7'' Single Year: 2006 Line-up: John Brenner - vocals & guitar Bert Hall, Jr. - bass Steve Branagan - drums n July 2004, returning after a 13 year absence, the Salvation's Answer-era line-up of Revelation re-formed as Against Nature and began writing and rehearsing new music, just for fun. The fun quickly turned into a serious artistic commitment, and the band recorded two discs' worth of music, "Appease" and "Panoply," at one studio session in May 2005. On a creative drive that has not subsided to this day, the band recorded their next three discs in quick succession: "Safe Dissonance," "Ghosting," and "Leer," all released in 2006. The Church Within Records also released a 7-inch vinyl single, "Pluperfect," in the same year. 2007 saw the release of the Manilla Road song "Crystal Logic" with Butch Balich (Argus, ex-Penance) on vocals on a Solemnity Records tribute double-CD, "The Riddle Masters"; the band's sixth full-length release "The Anxiety of Influence"; and their seventh full-length, "Unfolded." Two shorter releases, "Descend" and "Much in Little," were released in early 2008, and "Natural Blue" and "Accumulus" were released in September and October of 2008. "Action at a Distance" and "The First Rain" were release in March and April of 2009. Against Nature has played the Templars of Doom II festival in Indianapolis, the Doom Shall Rise IV festival in Germany, the Stoner Hands of Doom VII festival in Mesa, AZ, the Doomed to Fall ...

Against nature? Homosexuality and evolution (17 Nov 2011)
UCL Lunch Hour Lecture: Against nature? Homosexuality and evolution Professor Volker Sommer (UCL Anthropology) Same-sex sexual behaviour is often condemned on the grounds that it is "against nature". Indeed, biology tells us that selection favours those who leave more offspring. But then, homosexual behaviour is widespread - not only amongst humans, but other animals alike, be they flamingos, gorillas, dolphins or bisons. Doesn't this constitute a paradox for Darwinian Theory? And is there a connection between what goes on in nature and what is morally desirable? This talk addresses these controversial topics.

Gogol Bordello - Against The Nature
Gogol Bordello is a Gypsy punk band from the Lower East Side of Manhattan, formed in 1999 and known for theatrical stage shows and persistent touring. The "boss" of the band, Eugene Hutz, is originally from Ukrain and he's a half-gypsy. Much of the band's sound is inspired by Gypsy music. The band incorporates minor-key accordion and violin (and on some albums, saxophone) mixed with punk and dub. The band has appeared in a number of independent films, most notably in 2005's Everything Is Illuminated in which the lead singer, Eugene Hütz, co-starred with Elijah Wood in a dramedy and adventure story about the Nazi purges in Ukraine. The entire group was present for one shot in which they played a brass band in a set that included the Star Spangled Banner. They also played the traditional Yiddish tune Bublitschki (little bagels). Gogol Bordello contributed the song "Start Wearing Purple" to the film's score. "Gogol" comes from the name Nikolai Gogol. As one of the most influential writers in Ukrainian and Russian literature, Gogol paved the way for the likes of Kafka and Dostoyevsky. He also serves as an ideological influence for the band because he "smuggled" Ukrainian culture into Russian society, which Gogol Bordello intends to do with Gypsy/ East-European music in the English-speaking world. "Bordello", in Italian, refers to a brothel or a "gentleman's club". The band was originally titled Hütz and the Béla Bartóks, but Eugene Hütz says that they decided to change the ...

Civilisations- Egypt [3/6]
For 3000 years, from the construction of the first pyramid until the death of Cleopatra, Egypt was a land of prosperity; largely thanks to the River Nile. What is the story of the development of this impressive civilisation and its relationship with its principal source of life? How did the river valley evolve during Antiquity? Why did the Egyptians never fight against nature, preferring to draw their own life-force from its natural power? And what remains today of the riches and wealth that nature has offered to Egypt? Shaped and fashioned by the hand of man in his pursuit of modernity, against all odds, the Nile has finally been tamed. This popular series gives new insights into some of the most influential civilisations to shape the world as we know it. To understand where we are now, it might help to understand where we have been.

Why do Black Christians vote Obama?
Why do Black Christians still vote Obama? Obama is pro-homosexual and pro-abortion and against the core biblical values of most African-American families. Barack Obama is at least 50% White, since his mother was 100% White, and Obama's dad was reportedly about 50% Arab and about 50% Black, making Obama about 25% Arab and 25% Black. Regardless if he was less Arab than Black he still was not 100% Black, which clearly makes Obama less than 50% Black. Yet despite the fact that he is not even Black, more Black Christians still view him as Black and vote for him, regardless of their own core biblical beliefs. But why? The following are the first 5 of 10 amazingly morally repugnant positions Obama takes regarding the major moral and spiritual issues of the day. Each one flies in the face of deep moral values embraced by most bible believing Christians, Black or otherwise, yet most African-Americans still virtually always blindly vote in lockstep for Barack Obama and continue to support him no matter what he does. The video covers all 10: Obama Morally Repugnant Reason #1: Barack Obama is pro-homosexual, yet the bible clearly condemns homosexuality. Two of the sins God hates most are homosexuality and pride. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah over such abominable behavior. So short of blatantly blaspheming the Holy Spirit or cursing God, what worse position could a Christian take than to embrace a politician who embraces and supports both of those blatant sins wrapped up in the ...

ISLAND OF LOST SOULS (Masters of Cinema) Original theatrical trailer
Originally rejected by the BBFC on its original release for being "against nature", this first and best screen adaptation of HG Wells' The Island of Dr. Moreau is a taboo-flaunting, blood-curdling spectacular, and one of Hollywood's wildest, most notorious, pre-Code pictures. Shipwrecked and adrift, Edward Parker finds himself a guest on Dr. Moreau's isolated South Seas island, but quickly discovers the horrifying nature of the doctor's work and the origin of the strange forms inhabiting the isle: a colony of wild animals reworked into humanoid form via sadistic surgical experiments. Furthermore, Parker quickly begins to fear his own part in the doctor's plans to take the unholy enterprise to a next level. Featuring a peerlessly erudite and sinister performance by Charles Laughton as the diabolical doctor, a sterling appearance by Bela Lugosi as the half-beast-half-man "Sayer of the Law", and sensationally atmospheric cinematography by the great Karl Struss (Murnau's Sunrise, Mamoulian's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde), Island of Lost Souls now returns to claim a central position among the most imaginative and nightmarish fantasies from Hollywood's golden age of horror. Unbelievably, this is the first-ever Blu-ray or DVD release of this Universal horror classic in the UK, finally released in time for its 80th anniversary -- released the same month as another famous Charles Laughton film Ruggles of Red Gap in the Masters of Cinema Series. A true classic of horror cinema from the ...

They Exchanged the Truth of God for a Lie - Romans 1:18-32 (Scripture reading)
They Exchanged the Truth of God for a Lie - Romans 1:18-32 (Scripture reading) On The Bible playlist: www.youtube.com Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness; 19 because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse: 21 because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves: 25 for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working ...

Against The Wall: Quality of Life Part 1
Quality of Life, as a true low-budget indie, is a remarkably polished film. Chronicling the lives of two Frisco graff writers (Vain and Heir) as their encounters with the law place strain on their friendship and ambitions, the movie takes a penetrating look at those involved in the underground graffiti movement, as well as their place in society. While one character, Heir, considers straightening out his life by getting involved in advertising, bringing to light the difficulties involved in such a transition, his friend, Vain, unwilling to let go of the "bombing" lifestyle, heads into a tailspin, that eventually explodes in the film's powerful climax. Despite the serious nature of the film, the movie has a lot of funny moments, which prevent it from being overbearing. The characters- artists at a crossroads- are complex and interesting, and a good balance, the more volatile Vain complementing the more level-headed Heir. Aesthetically, the cinematography, which mirrors the grittiness of the Frisco graff scene, is beautiful in its abrasiveness, and the soundtrack, featuring bay area emcees like Andre Nikatina and Top Ramen, helps set the mood. There's also some pretty ill fight scenes and the tags are top notch. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone interested in hip hop culture.

Richard Wagner - Das Rheingold - Der Ring des Nibelungen - part 1
"Vorspiel"/"Weia! Woge, du welle"/"Hehe! Ihr nicker!"/"Garstig glatter glitschiger glimmer"/"Wie in den glieder brunstige glut". Scene 1. "Das Rheingold" (The Rhine Gold), first of the four operas of "Der Ring des Nibelungen" (The Ring of the Nibelung). Music and text by Richard Wagner (1813-1883). Conductor: Georg Solti & Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Wagner's essential peculiarity is therepresentation of the drama as an element of introspection; his operas can't be considered operas in the traditional meaning of the word, but great compositions where music, singing, poetry and psychology merge to interpret the life. In Wagner's conception the drama expect an almost religious attention, which the public has to attend to as the story takes place in his mind; so the drama rises magically from the imagination of the public before being in music. The music of the Cycle is composed by a mosaic of leading motifs, the leitmotiv, which embode characters or feelings, so their continuos reappearing produces a sort of psychological premonition. No closed-form pieces or arias interfer with the free flow of the narration which goes on without solution of continuity from the beginning to the end of every act, subjecting the singing to the comment of an orchestra enormous for the number of instruments and resonant wideness. It is also important in Wagner the use of chromatism, that incessant wave of chromatic spirals which is took to extremes till it leave the tonal structure. The ...
